Summary

In 2026, the Thai government made significant changes to the 90-day reporting requirement for foreigners living in the country. These changes aim to simplify the reporting process and enhance compliance among expats and retirees.

What Changed

  • The 90-day reporting can now be completed online through the official immigration website or app.
  • The reporting period has been extended from every 90 days to every 120 days for certain visa types.
  • Failure to report within the allotted time frame will now incur stricter penalties, including increased fines.
  • Expats can now notify immigration authorities of their change of address via an online system, eliminating the need for in-person visits at the immigration office.

Who It Affects

  • Holders of Non-Immigrant visas (including Non-Immigrant B, O, ED, and others).
  • Long-term retirees living in Thailand on retirement visas (O-A and O-X).
  • Digital nomads and foreign workers on temporary work visas who are staying long-term.
  • Expats who are frequently changing their residence within Thailand.

What You Should Do

  • If you are due for your 90-day reporting, visit the immigration website or download the app to complete your report online.
  • Keep track of your reporting deadlines — mark them on your calendar, noting the new 120-day schedule where applicable.
  • Ensure you update your address online if you move, to avoid unnecessary penalties.
  • Familiarize yourself with the new penalty structures to understand the consequences of late reporting.
  • For detailed guidance, consult with a local immigration office or a visa service provider to ensure compliance with the new regulations.

These updates are designed to help streamline the process for expats and improve communication with the immigration department, making it easier for foreigners to remain compliant while living in Thailand.
